]]>Even when in the snow, it is important to remember to protect yourself from the sun.
On this day we took a hike up Smuggler Mountain trail and it was very sunny and 45 degrees outside, so yes, we were burning and getting cold at the same time.
Even more, after breaking a sweat while hiking up the mountain we learned how important it is to wear moisture wicking clothing to make sure we had a dry shirt on afterwards. Otherwise, it would have been freezing!

Since the last try on video we shared, we have made some really great improvements to our collection.
Things to look out for:

New Ultra soft fabrics for our leggings + shorts. This fabric also offers great sun protection and are made to be worn in and out of the water.
New *Board Shorts that offer a bit longer in seam. (now our #1 selling short)

]]>Some of you have already been shopping with us during our sample sales and we want to say thank you! Some of you are still not sure what samples are so we are here to fill you in!
To keep it simple, a sample is the prototype of our design.
So here is how the process goes...
-We make designs and soon after putting these designs on paper we need to bring them to life. This is the sampling process.
-Our designs are manufactured and brought to life so that we can test them, look at them, make sure the fit is right, ensure we love the colors we chose, show them to retailers, Bring them to trade shows, etc. you get the idea?
-After we go through the process of making all our final decisions, and showing off our brand new styles and colors we no longer need the samples, so a sample sale is born!
- A common question we get is why most of our samples are size SMALL? This is because most of the samples are made in size small. We do produce other sizes, these typically sell very fast and so most people never get to see them.
We love the idea of having this sale for a few different reasons:
1. We often get to share one of kind pieces that never made it to the final production run. This is super cool because we know our customers get to enjoy something unique and special.
2. Everyone loves a good deal. Our customers get to shop perfectly good styles at a very cheap price!
3. We are not putting anything to waste! Samples wont be tossed to sit in a garbage pit like many old clothes go to die... they will be enjoyed and used.
So the next time you see a samples sale going on we hope you enjoy it and find some gems! Typically you will see these sales happen bi-annually, but on a occasion we have more items to sell and we are happy to share. If you don't want to miss the next sale, definitely sign up for our VIP list is you have not already. You can do so at the very bottom of our webpage.

A group of nine friends packed a 36 Yellow Fin and set off from Lighthouse Point, Florida to The Great Abaco Islands in The Bahamas. We were very lucky to make the crossing with perfect weather all weekend long. We had no worries about rough seas or passing storms.
The flat, sparkling, clear water was indeed one of the highlights. No matter how often we have the opportunity to cross over to The Bahamas, the water never ceases to amaze. The color is superb and the clarity is pure.
With two full days on the water, we had the time to Island hope, fish, dive, and relax under the sun. First day upon arriving we set to do a little yellow tailing. Heading out to the shallow waters of The Bahamas we anchored out in about 35 feet of water with a few chum bags and sardines to drop our lines. Within minutes we caught dinner for the next two nights!
In the islands the sun is beyond hot! The girls were stoked to be decked out in full Skipper gear that is UPF50 and not have to worry about burning after fishing and being in the water all day. The water leggings that the girls wore throughout the trip are awesome for jumping in the water to snorkel and spearfish.

One of our most memorial stops was at No Name Cay where visitors can hangout and feed the Bahamian pigs. Yes pigs! They live their lives out on the island sustained by the visitors that travel by boat or plane to come with food and affection. For most of our crew it was the first time having the experience and it was a lot of fun and certainly something different to do.
If you have spent time on the other islands in The Bahamas, The Abacos definitely are among the most beautiful and unique. Our top secluded spot was Treasure Cay. It is simply amazing! Walking and snorkeling around the beach made us feel like we had the island to ourselves with only a few boats coming and going. Like many of the islands in The Bahamas, the nurse sharks and stingrays come out to play looking for food. There were also a lot of reef fish among other younger species swimming in the shallow grassy waters.
After a total of 600 miles traveled, it was great arriving home on a Sunday and sharing stores about this beautiful time with friends. Big thanks and shout out to @PilotC for the amazing photos and videos and out captain @thechrisgreen1. Thank you to friends and our Skipper Girls for representing and having a good time.

We spent most of the day on the beach, roaming our favorite locals spots, and on and off the boat. Unfortunately due to the ocean conditions we could not get shots in the water like planned. However, it turned out okay because Chelsea really captured the Fall / Winter 17 inspiration that we were looking for!
When you finally get to take a look at the photos in the next 3 months you will fall in love with the quaint Florida homes and shady palms that line our coast. We wanted to capture the "old Florida" lifestyle visitors and locals a like enjoy all year long. No matter the seasons we are hanging around on the beach, jumping on the boat, or just relaxing under the palms.
We cant wait to show you!! https://reelskipper.com/products/classic-skipper-performance-top-green-scale-white?variant=242570887193
Shout out to our models HIllarie (@Anthilltravels) & Kolbie (@Kolbikollette) for being so awesome.

Lucky we came with a lot of stuff for the ladies and a few things for the boys. It turned into an extra long day with most boats not leaving until after 5PM. I think its safe to assume everyone had a really good time.
Check out some of the highlights from throughout the day!

The rack pictured was cut into two separate racks that hold up to 7 poles each. The wall across is 14 ft and 10 ft high.
Shopping List
-2 x 4 lumber pieces - Bought 8 pieces .
- Tapcon Screws - (used for dry wall with concrete backing) If you have any other material, consult with a representative at your hardware store for the proper type of screw you will need.
-Self drilling wood screws - 1 box. These are for attached the pieces of wood together.
-Paint or wood stain. (optional)- We used a dark wood color that matches the furniture in our guest room called "Kona"
-Plastic sheeting and brush.
-Drill bits - 2 inch hole saw (top rack) / 2 inch paddle bit (bottom rack)
-Light grid sand paper- 1 packet
Steps 1: Measure your space to determine what size wood pieces you will need. It helps a lot to know how you want your wood cut before bringing it home, especially if you do not have a power saw at home. Stores like Home Depot will cut the wood to the size that you need. In addition to your space, check out the type of poles that you have. You want to take into consideration how deep want the holes to be where the base of the pole rest, How tall your poles are, and the space you want to leave in between each pole. (See below what we figured out. This will depend mostly on the size of the reels.)
Step 2: Get ready to cut your wood! Measure seven holes on each 2x4 wood piece that will hold the poles. 4 of the 2x4 wood pieces will be the backing and won't need holes drilled in them. The holes should be spaced 6in apart. Remember the top racks will be completely drilled through so that the rod tip will go through and the bottom racks will only have a 2in diameter grove hollowed out with the drill where the base of the rod will rest. It helps to mark each hole that you are going to be drilling so that you can be as accurate as possible. Use your drill with the 2in drill bit and drill exactly where you left your measurements.
Step 3: After you have drilled each hole on the top racks and the groves on the bottom racks you get to do the least exacting part of this job. Sanding isn't a necessary step, however it does give your rack a nice smooth, finished look and preps it for the wood stain. IF you do not wish to use a paint or a stain and nobody is looking at your pole rack then maybe you want to skip this step all together?
If you have an electric sander, then good for you! Otherwise, use that sand paper you bought at your hardware store.
Step 4: Once everything is smoothed out prepare the wood to be painted by placing down the plastic paint cover. The good thing about using a wood stain is that it dries rather quickly. Therefore, once you paint one side you can turn them over in 20-30 minutes and finish there other side. For better results, we let the wood dry over night.
Step 5: Attached the 2x4 wood pieces together. (see picture below). Use the self-drilling wood screws to attach the 2x4s. If you have to use more screws for the bases then do so since most of the weight will be distributed at the bottom. We used black screws to match with the dark finish of the wood (it helps everything blend in)
Step 6: Measure again where you will be having the racks! Use a wall level just like you would if you were hanging a pictures so you can be sure to have everything as straight as possible (in our case we used a line and point laser level). If you are hanging the racks on dry wall with concrete backing (as pictured) then make sure you find where the studs are before drilling holes in the wall. This is exactly where you want to drill the Tapcon screws. IF everything matches up accurately then you drill in the screws. Once you drilled, everything should be secured tightly and snug against the wall.
Take a look at the finished product!
